Commissioners & Volunteers Dinner

February 17, 2017 @ Tavern on the Green, Lincolnshire Country Club - Crete, IL

This dinner honors Village of Richton Park volunteers and commissioners. Honored are the many committees and groups who work throughout the year to make a difference in our community.

The evening entailed thanking all of the commissions and committees of Richton Park: Adopt-A-Block Group, Beautification Committee, Economic Development Commission, Fire & Police Board, Home Owners Association Presidents & Representatives, Merchants Chamber, Parks & Recreation Commission, Planning & Zoning Commission, Scholarship Committee, Sister City Committee, Senior Citizen Advisory Committee and Veterans Committee; for all their dedication, efforts and services to create a better community for Richton Park.

Also, the Commissioner, Committee and Volunteer Appreciation Dinner welcomed our elected officials and their representatives, Congresswoman Robin Kelly and State Senator Michael Hastings as well as our Co-Sponsor, Clark Dietz, Inc.

The evening was blessed by an impactful speech from this year’s guest speaker, Dr. Blondean Davis, Superintendent of School District #162 and CEO of Southland College Preparatory High School. She emphasized the importance of volunteerism and how that impacts a community, giving her own experience as an example.

The most anticipated moment of the night was the revelation of the “Citizen of the Year Award” which is kept a secret until the announcement. Last year’s recipient, Warrette Coleman; Richton Park Library President, gave a few comments on the significance of this award and President Rick Reinbold introduced this year’s recipient, Yvonne Evans; who is a member of the Beautification and Sister City Committees and has dedicated years of her life volunteering throughout Richton Park. This year’s event truly showcased the Stars of Richton Park.
