President Reinbold Signs Declaration of Local State of Emergency

RICK REINBOLD

President Reinbold has signed a Declaration of Emergency to authorize the Village’s response and preventative measures for the COVID-19 pandemic.

This is a necessary and required action that we must take to allow the Village of Richton Park to be eligible for State and Federal resources to help us continue to prepare our community.

Although this decision has been made, it does not mean that Richton Park is experiencing a community spread of the COVID-19 virus. We have no information that any resident of Richton Park has tested   positive for the virus. We are following Governor Pritzker’s recommendations as well as that of the Center for Disease Control, and both the Illinois Dept. of Public Health, and the Cook County Dept. of Public Health, in taking the necessary precautions to help minimize the spread of COVID-19 and to protect our citizens.

To ensure that we are doing our part as an organization in containing this pandemic, the Village Hall and Community Center will be temporarily closed for all programming and non-essential services from Wednesday, March 18th until March 30th. However, Village staff will be conducting business via telephone, voicemails, and email. We will also be sharing updates online at richtonpark.org, through email subscription lists, and on the Village’s social media. Although payments are allowed via drop-box in Village Hall’s main lobby, we encourage citizens to take advantage of our digital tools and online-payment features also located at richtonpark.org.

As a reminder, first responders such as Richton Park Police, Fire, and Public Works personnel are always available for emergency situations by dialing 911.

The health and safety of our residents and staff is our top priority, as our actions ensure that we focus on what’s most critical to serving the public. These precautionary measures are in the best interest of everyone during this emerging and rapidly changing situation. Please be aware that local restaurants will still be open for carry-out, delivery, and in-app delivery services.

Please know that myself, the Board of Trustees, and Village staff are working diligently to stay informed on COVID-19 updates and best practices, and are available for any of your questions.
