President's Message | Winter 2021

RICK REINBOLD

Turning the calendar to 2021, I want to acknowledge ALL that our community has done this past year to maintain safe, social practices amongst the pandemic. 2020 was indeed the year of the Face Mask, but we are grateful for guidelines, mandates, and recommendations on how to slow and stop the spread of the virus. I am proud to report that with our population, Richton Park has sustained the lowest number of positive COVID cases within the Southland, and am glad to see that our residents recognize the importance of preserving the overall health of the community. COVID-19 has had a devastating impact on families, businesses, and daily life in general. However, it is the resilience and genuine, consistent care for one another that helps everyone get through hard times.

On the notion of caring for one another, to see the outpour of support and aid from the community for the victims of the fire at Richton Square Apartments has been remarkable. Not only have we been able to collect thousands of dollars in donations for the families, but we have had an entire gymnasium full of donated clothes and household items, as well as an abundance of help from local organizations and companies with resources and assistance. Coming together to help those in need shows that we have strong character, Richton Park. Thank You!

As we closely monitor the pandemic, we appreciate your patience and understanding as we try to navigate how to best serve you. Hopefully, you have been able to access and utilize our online resources and systems smoothly and efficiently. Creating safe versions of Village programming, we are excited to see that participation didn’t stray, with successful drive-thru events, and over 2,500 people tuning in to see our live-stream of the annual Holiday Tree Lighting. We are always anticipating when we can resume regularly scheduled programming, but until then we will continue to plan accordingly, reflecting the safest practices possible.

Even in such uncertainty with COVID-19, the Village’s commitment to you is unwavering. We are still very much planning a push forward in economic development, infrastructure, and new things for the Village of Richton Park. We are still implementing new, better ways to interact and engage, with you. We are still dedicated to creating a better quality of life, for you.

Along with the Board of Trustees, our Administrative staff and all the employees of the Village, serving and seeing you through good times as well as tough times is what we are here for.

This is Richton Park. This is Your Home.
