The Keep the Wreath Red campaign has been used by Richton Park Fire for over 25 years to raise awareness of the increase of fires during the Holiday season. Because of the use of flammable decorations, candles, and cooking of Holiday foods, there is an increasing number of house fires within the U.S.
During the Holiday season, Fire Stations throughout the country now display wreaths decorated with Red lights only, along with signs asking residents to "Keep it Red."
Every time a fire occurs within the community due to the holidays, a red bulb is taken from the wreath and is replaced with a white bulb to remind residents to practice Fire safety during not just the Holidays, but at all times.
