Officer Jalye LaPorte Promoted to Corporal

The Richton Park Police Department is proud to announce the promotion of Officer Jalye LaPorte to the position of Corporal. Corporal LaPorte became a member of the Richton Park Police Department in July of 2016. Prior to joining the Richton Park Police Department she served for seven years with the East Hazel Crest Police Department. While working in the Patrol Division of the Richton Park Police Department, she distinguished herself as a competent and well-rounded officer, using her prior experience and knowledge to guide her decision making and judgement. She routinely conducted traffic enforcement stop, showing a talent for overweight truck enforcement. Corporal LaPorte also served on the South Suburban Emergency Response Team as a negotiator and negotiator team leader.

In January of 2018, Corporal LaPorte became the Richton Park Police Department’s School Resource Officer.  Corporal LaPorte excelled in her new role. She developed relationships with schools’ administrators, students and staffs.  Her professionalism led to School District 227 offering to pay half her salary to have her permanently assigned to the local high school, Rich Township High School Fine Arts and Communications Campus.

In September of 2020, Corporal LaPorte took and passed the Corporal’s Exam for the Richton Park Police Department. She placed first on the promotional list and was promoted to the position of Corporal on January 04, 2021. Corporal LaPorte became the first female Richton Park Police Officer to be promoted to Corporal.

Corporal LaPorte should be congratulated for her efforts and achievements. She serves as a role model and trailblazer for her fellow officers. The Department and Village is proud of her accomplishment and wishes her continued success with the Richton Park Police Department.
