In early morning August 27, 2025, the Richton Park Fire Department was dispatched to an unresponsive person at Sauk Trail and Governors Hwy. First arriving crews found a victim that had been struck by a vehicle traveling westbound on Sauk Trail. The victim was struck near Sauk Trail and Richton Road, and came to rest on Sauk Trail between Richton Road and Governors Hwy. The victim, a female in her sixties, was in grave condition. She sustained significant, traumatic injuries to multiple areas, including the head. The victim, showing obvious signs indicating loss of life, did succumb to her injuries on the scene.
The Richton Park Police Department activated the Suburban Major Accident Reconstruction Team (S.M.A.R.T.) to assist with the accident investigation. This accident is currently under investigation and further detail will become available once complete.
