Village staff is hard at work coordinating and planning for significant redevelopment within our Town Center.
We are ecstatic to have the Cook County Sheriff's RENEW PROGRAM right here in Richton Park. If you've noticed the demolition of the former Animal Clinic on Sauk Trail, just know that it was this group of gentlemen that helped clear the site, while learning significant trade skills. We're in the process of demolishing SIX buildings along Sauk Trail and Governors Hwy. The Animal Clinic was the first!
Cook County Sheriff's one-of-a-kind "Restoring Neighborhoods Workforce" (RENEW) Program trains individuals in deconstruction techniques with in-class and on-site education, removing abandoned properties, helping them build a work history with critical real-world experience, and connecting participants to employment.
There is so much labor that goes into these demolitions that the public may not see. From start to finish, it's an extensive process that takes time, care, and preparation.
Following the demolitions, which should be wrapping up by Summer, the Village is planning to spruce up the locations to ensure each site is presentable and inviting for development.
Our six demolition locations will have adequate brush removal, filling, and topsoil and seeding. This process will also occur among multiple vacant lots that are visible along Sauk Trail.
Below, the Cook County RENEW crew is preparing the our second set demolition at 22311 Governors Hwy.
